The Calafuria Rosè is produced by Tormaresca, the company that bears the name and represents Antinori in southern Italy. Founded in 1998, it consists of 2 estates: Bocca di Lupo, located in the Murgia Barese and Masseria Maime, located in the beating heart of Puglia, Salento. Antinori's goal is precisely to enhance the Apulian terroir, which, although it has long been among the main producers of wine grapes on the peninsula, has never been able to express its identity to the fullest. By cultivating only native grape varieties in harmony and cohesion with the terroir, the winery has been contributing to the region's wine renaissance in recent years.
The Tormaresca Calafuria Rosè is the result of the winery's attention to detail, enthusiasm and passion and named as one of the most beautiful bays in the region. This rosé is made from Negroamaro grapes, which with the proximity to the sea are able to express themselves best, thanks to the Mediterranean temperature and the presence of limestone and clay soils. The best grapes for making the rosé are selected and hand-picked in the first half of September and destemmed and softly pressed. The must is then transferred to steel tanks, initially at a temperature of 12°C to achieve natural decanting by which it preserves aromas, then at 16°C for fermentation. Before bottling it is aged in steel in contact with its own yeasts. Calafuria is a soft, fruity and fresh IGT Salento rosé. Coral pink. Delicate floral aromas of rose and lavender, accompanied by persistent fruity notes. Pleasant wine, with the right balance between hardness and softness. The intense taste sensations are well enhanced by a pleasant savoriness.
