The name "Campo del re" comes from the name from the land where the vineyard is located. The grape harvest carried out there was intended for the production of wine for King Ferdinand II of Bourbon. The wine produced was particularly appreciated at court, so much so that local peasants named the vineyard "Campo del Re."
