Cont'Ugo comes exclusively from Merlot grapes to interpret the Bolgheri terroir from a new perspective. Intense ruby red. On the nose, notes of small red fruits such as cherry, morello cherry and raspberry stand out, accompanied by aromas of sweet spices and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is striking for its silky tannins, a wine of good persistence, great balance and pleasantness.

After manual harvesting and careful selection in the winery, the grapes were transferred to thermo-conditioned stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation and the maceration, for a period of about 20 days. Fermentation temperature was managed according to the ripeness level of the grapes: some at lower temperatures to maintain more aromatic freshness, others at temperatures of about 30 °C to emphasize polyphenolic extraction and the structure. This resulted in different types of Merlot that were transferred to barrels separately.
Aging La malolactic fermentation took place in barrels (1/3 new) and was finished by the end of the year. After 8 months of elevation in French oak, the best batches were blended and put back into barrels for an additional 4 months. At end of this period, bottling was carried out. The wine aged in the bottle for about 6 months before being released to the market.
