Ruffino's signature Morellino di Scansano DOCG "Rosso di Marte" is made from grapes harvested the second half of September and then fermented in steel; the vineyards, set on hills overlooking the sea, grow on medium skeleton soil and benefit from significant temperature swings. Aged for 9 months in steel, it bears an icon on the label inspired by the reconstruction of an Etruscan shield, dating from the fifth century BC, found in Maremma.
Tasting notes.: Ruby, with violet hues. The nose is expressed with hints of ripe cherry, balsamic notes and hints of tobacco. Pleasantly structured on the palate; tannins are well integrated and persistence is very pleasant.
Pairings: Excellent in combination with the main preparations of inland Tuscan cuisine, it goes well with earthy menus and stewed meats.
