Veneto

Veneto is a region with a solid viticultural tradition, which maintains the scepter of Italian production with just under 8,174,000 hl of wine in 2009, with a minimum prevalence of white, and 30% of the wines areDOCGAndDOC.
Thegrape varietyMerlot is more widespread, followed by the indigenous Garganega and Prosecco among the white berried ones, while Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara are more cultivated among the red berried ones, in particular in the Veronese and Vicenza areas. Some are produced in the province of VeronaDOCGregional, SoaveSuperior, BardolinoSuperior, Amarone della Valpollicella, Recioto della Valpollicella and Recioto di Soave, delicious winepassitobased on garganega. Remaining in the field of sweet wines we must remember the Torcolato, based on vespaiola, produced in the Breganze area.
In the Valpollicella area, in addition to interesting red wines, theDOCGAmarone della Valpollicella, made from corvina, rondinella and other partially dried local grapes,robustand rich in aromatic nuances that make it one of the best reds in Italy.
On the Berici Hills there is the red Friulian, agrape varietyparticular, widespread especially around Barbarano, where it produces a red winefruityAndfresh.
On the Euganean Hills it is appreciatedDOCGColli Euganei Fior d'Arancio based on yellow muscat, while BagnoliDOCit includes the friularo, a great red winestructureelaborated from a biotype of the raboso piave.
The hills of the upper Treviso area are mainly planted with Prosecco, from which the different types of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene are obtained, among which Extra dry meets the greatest success. The particular, for theendaromaticity the Prosecco Valdobbiadene stands out-Superiordi Cartizze, produced in the small area of the same name in the hamlet of San Pietro di Barbozza. Still in the field of sweet wines, in these areas Torchiato di Fregona is produced, based on prosecco and verdiso, as well as RefrontoloPassitofrom marzemino. In the eastern areas, as well as in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the most common vines are some international ones, such as pinot grigio, chardonnay and pinot bianco, merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, although the local Friulian, verduzzo trevigiano and raboso piave occupy much of this vineyard.
