Feudi San Gregorio Fiano di Avellino Pietracalda is a very structured still white wine produced in the Irpinia region, in the heart of the Apennines of Campania. Irpinia is a historic winemaking area in which vines share this rugged terrain with fruit trees and centuries-old olive groves.
Although it is in Campania, this area has a very different microclimate from the rest of the region-it is often windy and rains frequently but regularly. In addition, being an alternation of hills and mountains, winters are harsh though short.
Feudi San Gregori's vineyards are in Sorbo Serpico, about an hour from Naples and Vesuvius. The soils are rich in clay, which can make up to 50 percent of the total soil composition. Clay is a very important element in vineyard cultivation as it naturally counteracts the drought of the hot season and keeps the acidity of the grapes stable. Pietracalda is a wine made from 100% Fiano grapes, brought to Italy by the Greeks, and is a wine with a DOCG classification, Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita, meaning that all winemaking and bottling processes take place in the province of Avellino. The harvest takes place in mid-September, the winemaking process is characterized by a maturation of about 4 to 5 months with permanence on its own yeasts and repeated batonnage to put back into suspension the fine sediments resulting from fermentation. Bold straw yellow. The bouquet ranges from fresh chamomile flowers to freshly picked fruit and candied citron. On the palate, typical varietal notes of softness are balanced by lively freshness and minerality.

More | From the most vocated vineyards we have chosen the best Fiano grapes. Thus was born Pietracalda from the "Selections" line, reserved for the best restaurants and wine shops. The bottle that dresses it, conceived by the genius of Massimo Vignelli, is the image elegant and dynamic of a glass that comes alive as it envelops the wine, taking the shape of very thin continuous waves all around. |
