Intense ruby red. The nose is complex, impactful, characterized by notes of ripe red fruit and violets accompanied by sensations of dried flowers, cocoa powder, cherries under spirits and spices such as oregano and marjoram. The palate is elegant, rich and complex, with soft and succulent tannins. The freshness of certain sensations perceived on the nose is also found during tasting.

History | Tenuta Pian delle Vigne, located 6 km. southwest of Montalcino, takes its name from a characteristic 19th-century railway station on its grounds. The estate consists of 184 hectares, 65 of which are planted with vines exposed mainly to the southwest at an altitude of about 130 meters above sea level. Pian delle Vigne has always pursued the philosophy oriented toward the large barrel, capable of preserving the extraordinary integrity of the Sangiovese fruit and giving Brunello its characteristic vibrant elegance. The winery has been owned by the Antinori family since 1995, the year of the first harvest of Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. |

Climate | Altitude: about 130 m. above sea level. 2015 will be remembered as a great vintage in Montalcino. Winter and spring rainfall, capable of ensuring the accumulation of good water reserves in the soil, alternated with sunny and breezy days that allowed for rapid and even cluster growth in May and June. A tendentially hot summer favored the regular development of the grapes. The north wind and temperate weather in September allowed for an optimal conclusion to ripening. |

Vinification | Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were destemmed and softly crushed and then transferred to stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation. The maceration took about 15 days at a temperature of 28 °C. |
Aging | After the malolactic fermentation the wine was transferred to oak barrels ranging in size from 30 to 80 hl where it began its maturation in wood. After more than 2 years, Pian delle Vigne left the large cask to head towards the long aging in bottle. |
