A secondary varietal of the Bordeaux blend, it is rare to find petit verdot worked in purity, but when this happens, and especially when those who work it know what they are doing, labels of certain appeal are to be expected. The "San Cristoforo," Petit Verdot di Toscana produced by "Podere San Cristoforo", is precisely one of those wines that never betrays expectations. It ferments spontaneously in steel and rests for ten months in old French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes.: by. ruby red color intense to the eye. On the nose it initially lets you perceive deep fruity notes, recalling plums, sour cherries and blood orange, then followed by hints of aromatic herbs, spicy nuances and balsamic memories. The palate is supported by an elegant tannic texture, well balanced between freshness and savoriness, as fruity as the nose in the aftertaste.
Pairings: Accompanies well courses of noble poultry or game. Excellent with guinea fowl with Taggiasca olives.
