In 1855, Leonia - Lamberto Frescobaldi's great-great-granddaughter - returning from a long trip to the environs of French Champagne, chose to plant the first pinot noir vines on the Pomino estate. After more than a century, Lamberto has taken up the work begun by his great-great-grandmother Leonia, which today results in this Brut Rosé Metodo Classico sparkling wine, labeled "Marchesi Frescobaldi." It is a Brut Rosé son of continuous and constant experimentation carried out over the decades, thanks to which we can now enjoy a wine with a fruity and fragrant personality, harmonious, refined and balanced. Extraordinary to accompany delicate hors d'oeuvres, raw fish, sushi, shellfish and fried seafood, it is a Rosé with an elegant, fine and feminine soul, which is why it is ideal to choose, if you wish, for the most romantic and sentimental occasions.
Tasting notes: The color is reminiscent of onion skin, and at the glass it is enhanced by a very fine and lively perlage. Fruity hints of wild strawberries and apricot open the nose, which then develops into notes of yeast and brioche, and toasted hints. The sip is fresh and persistent, fragrant, balanced and smooth, with excellent overall harmony.
Pairings: For aperitifs, it is excellent with fried mullet.

Harvest | The hand-harvested Pinot Noir grapes arrived at the winery in 15-kg crates during the coolest hours of the day. |
Vinification | The soft pressing, to which they were subjected, ensured the extraction of a must clear with a slight anthocyanic charge. Subsequently, the 12-hour cold clarification allowed further clarification, which was decisive in creating a qualitative harmony that characterized our Leonia rosé. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a constant, controlled temperature; a part was fermented in wood. |
Aging | The assemblage phase of the different cuvées took place in March, followed by the tirage (addition of the liqueur de tirage), resulting in the aging on the lees for at least 36 months concluded with remuage and dégorgement. Before release, Leonia rosé remained in aging in the bottle for several months. This brought additional harmony and organoleptic balance. |
