The "Montej Rosso" Monferrato DOC by. Villa Sparina is a very pleasant Piedmontese wine made mostly from grapes barbera. The vineyards from which it originates are located in the area of Gavi, in the province of Alessandria. The soils on which the vineyards are grown are mostly clay, the vines are cultivated using the Guyot method, and they are harvested when fully ripe, usually in the first ten days of October. After vinification, a portion of the wine is transferred inside barriques, where the aging process begins. At this point part of the wine remains in wood, while the remainder goes to steel for a period of at least 6 months. The result is a wine of excellent drinkability and splendid complexity.
Tasting Notes: It shows a ruby red color, intense and full. The nose opens with a pleasant fruity bouquet, there is no lack of spices to tease out a good complexity. The palate is soft and medium-bodied, the fruity aftertaste confirms a good persistence.
Pairings: For territoriality we recommend tasting it with bagna cauda alongside, but it also goes well with meats or aged cheeses.
