Tasting Notes: The eye is a beautiful deep ruby red, with subtle purple highlights at the glass. The nose opens on distinctly fruity notes, recalling small red berries, then complemented by tertiary references to chocolate. Rich and full-bodied the sip, soft in tannic texture and long in persistence.

Pairings: Best chosen to accompany meat-based second courses, it is ideal with cotechino in a crust.

Considerations: Concentrated and generous, impulsive and provocative, it is able to win you over from the start, then overwhelm you with its sensual passion. "Spigel," South Tyrol's signature "Kaltern" Lagrein, is a well-crafted red, the result of aging in barrels for at least a year. With roasts, with red meat main courses, and even with seasoned and more flavorful cheeses, it is a Lagrein that always goes well with us. Choose it to accompany a good Tuscan pecorino, and you will find it simply wonderful.
