The most important of the wines produced by Ruffino was born in 1947 to celebrate not only the 20th anniversary of its already well-known "Riserva Ducale" but also to commemorate a great vintage and to show the exceptional longevity of its Chianti Classico. Since then, the "Riserva Ducale Oro" has been produced only in vintages considered to be exceptional, those capable of evolving gracefully not only for years but also for decades. Starting in 2011, with an important and famous modification to the specification, it became Gran Selezione, one of the most relevant wines in the entire denomination. The grapes are selected and harvested by hand at Chianti Classico's Ruffino, Gretole, Castellina and Montemasso estates. It is wine that is left to mature for 36 months, 12 of which are in large oak barrels. The wine then spends an additional six months in bottle before being released to the market.
Tasting Notes: Ruby red with garnet-colored highlights, fruity nose of plum and floral hints of violets. with hints of sweet spices. In the mouth it is well structured, with excellent balance between body, soft tannins and lively acidity. Excellent persistence
Pairings: Throughout a meal, it goes well with typical Tuscan cuisine and in particular with aged cheeses, grilled and baked meats.
